Frequently Asked Questions

Listings

What tickets can I sell?

Any tickets to a live cultural event in NYC, including Broadway, off-Broadway, concert, dance, opera, standup comedy.

How much can I sell my tickets for? Do you take a cut from my sales?

You can list tickets at or below the price paid (including fees). It’s FREE to sell on Theatr with no seller fees. You keep 100% of your earnings!

Can I sell both physical and digital tickets?

You can sell either physical or digital tickets. If the tickets are digital, make sure to transfer them to the buyer via email or text. If they are physical, it’s best for you to pick up the tickets from the box office yourself and hand them off to the buyer; please be aware that box offices sometimes ask for ID upon ticket pickup and, in those cases, buyers will be unable to pick up the physical tickets. Be sure to specify in your listing how you will transfer the tickets.

What kind of proof of purchase should I provide?

Your proof of purchase should be either of the following: 1. A screenshot of the confirmation email with the price paid or 2. A photo of the physical tickets. Your proof of purchase must include both the show date and time and the price paid so as to not get flagged as suspicious. Make sure you upload a legit proof — buyers may report your listing if the proof doesn’t meet the requirements which will cause your listing to get automatically removed by the system. And remember to block out all ticket barcodes and personal info on your proof of purchase!

Make Offer

What is Make Offer?

The Make Offer feature allows buyers to submit prices lower than the asking price for approval from the seller. Sellers can either accept or decline the offers. The feature makes it easier to sell faster if you’re looking to get as much of your money back as possible before showtime!

How will I be notified if I receive an offer?

You will receive a push notification if you receive an offer. You can also see all offers by going to Orders - Sell - click on the listing.

If a buyer sends an offer, have they already paid?

Yes, if a buyer sends an offer they have already paid. If the offer is accepted, the payment will become pending in your Theatr account as soon as the ticket is marked as transferred. If the offer is declined, they will receive a full refund.

When does an offer expire?

An offer will expire 24 hours after a buyer sends it. If you don’t respond within 24 hours of receiving an offer, the offer will be automatically declined.

How do I respond to offers?

You can respond to offers by going to Orders - Sell - click on the listing. There you can see all offers that you have received for a listing and either accept or decline them. Once you accept an offer, you’ll receive the buyer’s contact info and should reach out ASAP to transfer the tickets.

Can someone else buy a ticket even if a user has sent an offer?

Yes, anyone can still buy a ticket even if other users have sent pending offers. Once a listing is sold out, all offers will be automatically declined.

What happens to offers if a listing is sold out, deactivated, or reported by users and taken down?

If a listing is sold out, deactivated, or reported by users and taken down, all pending offers will be automatically declined. However, any sales in progress will stay active.

I declined an offer by accident. Can I get it back?

Declining offers is a permanent action. Once you decline an offer, this cannot be undone so make sure to double check before you decline any offers.

Can I turn off or ignore offers?

Offers are currently turned on for all listings but if you don’t want to accept offers you can decline them or wait for them to expire in 24 hours.

Ticket Transfer

I sold a ticket on the app but the buyer isn’t responding to me. What do I do?

If the buyer isn’t responding and it’s time sensitive, you can either cancel the transaction and try to sell to someone else or you can send them the ticket and mark the ticket as transferred in the app. The buyer has already paid so you don’t need to worry about collecting payment from them. If there is sufficient time before the show, you can wait and see if they respond in a bit but always feel free to cancel and move on to someone else if you aren’t hearing back.

What do I do if my buyer cancels?

Your buyer can only cancel before you confirm that you have transferred the ticket(s). Once you mark the ticket(s) as transferred, your payment will become pending.

If your buyer cancels before your transfer the tickets, your listing will automatically be re-uploaded to the app so someone else can buy it. If you’re in a rush to sell, try lowering the price to find a buyer more quickly.

The show was canceled. How do I cancel the transaction after I have already marked the tickets as transferred in the app?

You can directly issue a refund by tapping on 'Need to refund?'.

Payment

How and when will I receive payment?

Your payment will become available for transfer to your bank account/debit card two business days after the show (may be delayed during holidays). For more information, see Payout Schedule.

Please note that all seller payouts are processed exclusively through Stripe Connect. Any balance accrued from sales on Theatr can only be withdrawn through Stripe Connect and cannot be applied towards purchases or offers made within Theatr.

I have a non-US bank account. Can I still receive payment?

Sorry, we currently only support US banks through Stripe Connect.
